Spring Bike Out
Biker Rally
Helmets Strongly Encouraged
MUST SIGN RELEASE DAY OF RIDE!

Photos of Biker's Rally, taken April 26, 2008
Heartland welcomes
its newest genre of supporters.
Although it looked
rather gloomy in the distant sky, thirteen bikers total still took that leap of
faith and showed up for the ride. It was
actually a rain free ride that ended at a very sunny ranch. We also had a few who came in at the gate so
the crowd, overall, was small.
The food by Rossville
BBQ was great and the bands, The Bel Aires and Zane Turner & the Bluegrass
Pickers, were even better! A rep from
Thunder Roads Magazine said they will be writing an article on Heartland, which
should help with raising awareness about the ranch and the bands that played
for us were also very helpful in that they volunteered to do events for us in
the future and, again, free of charge!
Between registrations
and the items we raffled off, the bikers that did attend spent over $700! Although it was obvious that they were trying
to make up for the lack of other bikers, we are so full of gratitude and
appreciation for those that did show and the generous hearts they shared with
us.
We worked hard on the
event and we will work on "salvage value" by selling or raffling off
the rest of the stuff and T-shirts at a Headhunters gathering in the near
furutre and possibly some other biker events over the summer. We did learn a great deal from this
experience...one of the lessons learned was that we will not set up an event
with so much overhead remaining after...at least not until we know we are well
established enough that we dont have to worry about weak turnouts.
While not a
"major" success, it was not a failure at all. We did actually manage
to come out a few hundred dollars in the black
on the event thanks to our generous sponsors and the graciously generous bikers
that attended. We most certainly plan to
see everyone again next year!
A heartfelt thank you
from Heartland goes out to the following sponsors for this event...
