Attended Chattanooga State and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga majoring in Business Administration
Bill has a total of 35 years in banking with the last 8 years employed with Northwest Georgia Bank as a Commercial Lender. Prior to that, he spent 10 years in TV production as a director and cameraman with WRCB TV.
Bill served in the U.S. Army from 1968-1970, with a year’s duty in the Republic of Vietnam with the 5th Special Forces Group Airborne as a photographer, where he earned the Bronze Star. He joined the U.S. Army Reserve in 1972, served during the Gulf War in 1990, and retired a Sergeant Major in 1995.
Among Bill’s civic activities, he is the secretary and board member of the Kiwanis Club of Ringgold. He also serves on the East Ridge Zoning Appeals Board and previous board member of the East Ridge Education Committee. He serves as a Trustee and director of the television ministry at Anchor of Hope Baptist Church in Fort Oglethorpe. Bill is a past treasurer of the Signal Mountain Lions Club, past officer of the Chattanooga Downtown Sertoma Club, past president of the East Ridge Sertoma Club and the East Ridge Kiwanis Club, and past board member of the East Ridge and East Hamilton County Chambers of Commerce. He is a 2001 graduate of Leadership Catoosa. He has worked as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, Friends of the Park, Junior Achievement of Chattanooga, Bethel Bible Village, The Salvation Army, Kid’s Place-Warner Park, the Good Neighbor Program, and served 8 years as a student mentor at West Side Elementary in conjunction with Partnership 2000.
His hobbies include fly fishing, horseback riding, golf and videography and editing. He and wife Glenda have been married for 43 years. The couple has one son, Bill Jr., and lives in East Ridge
