Cowpoke Camp
We have scheduled a total of 8 weeks of different camps and activities
this summer for developmentally delayed and high risk children. Activities
include using the horse for sensory habilitation, arts and crafts to teach
creative expressionism, petting zoo, organic gardening and nature studies.
This year's camp counselors & instructors are as follows:
Joyce McNish is our camp coordinator and counselor. She will be
instructing activities during camps which are from 8:30 a.m. until 12:00
noon each day for 5 days per week for 5 weeks and from 1:00 p.m. to 5p.m.
for the last 3 weeks this Summer of 2008.
Sarah Hyatt, Lead Instructor & Horse Specialist with experience in Special
Ed students will be partnering with Anna.
Anna Scoggins, Volunteer Instructor & Teacher with experience in Special Ed
students will be facilitating the equestrian related activities at the
camps.
Tracy Hildreth is Art Instructor for the entire summer activity schedule.
She has experience in art, graphic design, and art therapy with her own 9
year old autistic child. Her 15 year old son will be in the work/mentoring
program and one of the camp peer buddies.
Area colleges send interns and area Beta Clubs send volunteers to help
with programming. We have just started asking for new volunteers to log
their hours.
